The Fig House at Middleton Lodge is the most breath-taking North Yorkshire venue, with the restored Middleton Lodge Walled Gardens surrounding the private wedding venue, complete with sandstone terrace, kitchen garden, wildflower planting and the luxurious fig plants within the orangery style Fig House wedding venue itself. If you’re thinking about a Middleton Lodge wedding, and looking for a relaxed North Yorkshire wedding photographer, then look no further!

Incredible North Yorkshire Wedding Venue

It’s a great setting for any styling, and has unlimited backdrops for your wedding photos with a rustic feel reminiscent of a Spanish finca. The space has plenty of character from the aged, peeling brick walls and the arched windows and light streaming in throughout the orangery which leads out to the terrace. The connecting Boiler House is also perfect for a unique ceremony venue too making it one of the most sought after wedding venues in North Yorkshire.

If you’re looking for a more intimate, smaller sized wedding venue, and an intimate wedding photography package, then why not also consider The Forge Restaurant at Middleton Lodge, which is renowned for it’s mouthwatering food and you can still use the rest of the Middleton Lodge estate and it’s incredible grounds for your wedding photos!

The Fig House Styled Shoot

Back in August 2020, I hosted a wedding photography styled shoot at The Fig House at Middleton Lodge - the perfect setting in Northern England, with the rustic adjoining Boiler House for a moody & intimate candlelit ceremony, whilst the orangery style Fig House is bursting with light and shadow, looking onto the walled gardens which looked their finest in the summer months. We aimed to show modern, design conscious couples how to make the most of the space for their wedding photography, and how to think outside the box in terms of how to style a modern wedding.  For more spectacular luxury UK wedding venues across for romantic weddings, check out my blog post here.

Modern Wedding Styling

We paired the characterful building alongside vibrant & modern wedding styling focusing on statement florals showing that wedding celebrations don’t have to fit to certain trends or styles but can truly push the boundaries in terms of what you want as a couple. Luxury weddings also don’t have to be muted - an explosion of colour can still deliver true style and incredible wedding photos you’ll cherish for years to come! Wedding Planner and Stylist, Rosie Green Events “In a world where styling with muted colour palettes, is very much of the time, we wanted to create a look that was quite the opposite, something that was vibrant, fun, full of colour and energy.”

The results you can achieve with a wedding planner & stylist

Wedding Planner and Stylist, Rosie Green Events “Working with textures, colours, wildflowers and light was the key to success.” “We wanted to inspire couples to not be afraid of using colour and if you are brave enough to wow with a statement like this, your guests are guaranteed to remember it! Why not move away from the pretty pastel palette and instead, go bold and rock the colourful scheme - one that makes your day and of course photographs a real statement.”

Wedding Planner and Stylist, Rosie Green Events “When planning your wedding, you should also think hard about how you can be more eco focused, so the first thing that springs to mind is, avoid plastics. Recycle what you can and repurpose flowers which is exactly what we did. Moving flowers around the venue, making sure no florist foam was used, and having portable displays means you can hand them out to guests at the end of the night so, you are getting a real bang for your buck.”

Bold wedding floral displays

The floral concept was to showcase luxury in technicolour! Designing flowers that would ooze wild and vibrant with a modern twist. Focusing on bold colours and strong shapes to create maximum impact in this incredible venue. Daisy Hoban Floral Design mixed through coral coloured sweet peas, bright electric blue delphiniums and pink cosmos as some of Daisy’s personal favourites to give all the festival fiesta vibes in a sophisticated way. Utilising the high ceilings at The Fig House, Daisy designed floral clouds to look as if they were floating above the dreamy tablescape. Using relaxed and unmanicured textures to work alongside the natural scenery creating one epic modern fairytale of a shoot! As well as the florals within The Fig House, Daisy also designed & created a one of a kind statement flower crown to display floral artistry. A showstopper design that you could imagine on a runway in London fashion week or on the mainstage at Glastonbury...a Queen on the hippies fashion lovechild.

As a design accent to the technicolour florals, flowing ribbons on chair backs, dusky pink linens, stoneware pieces which seem straight out of a forgotten china cabinet on Calle Obispo & gold cutlery mixed old with new for a variety of tones and depth amongst the table meadow.

Modern Boho Bridal Styling

With bridal designers on board such as Lazaro via Victoria Lou Bridal, Martina Liana via The Wedding Dress Company & Rembo Styling via Lace & Co Bridal, the bridal styling was all about glamour, looking good and feeling amazing. Accessories such as Daisy Hoban’s floral crown, one of a kind natural earrings & headpiece from Lilley Studio, and luxe earrings from Joanna Reed Bridal gave an extra edge to stand out from your average bride. Romina Fochesatto provided a bespoke jumpsuit with lace cuffs & sequin fringed dress to take our brides from day to night and to show that you can still look incredible if you’re not a dress kind of girl. With a splash of colour in Always Dream Jewel’s statement earrings - crisp, modern outfits looked sharp against the celebratory styling. Sarah Haines, Hair & Makeup Artist kept skin dewy and fresh whilst a bold lip helped transition from day to night. For the gents; double breasted suits in neutral shades with a pocket meadow pop of colour, woven textured shoes, pastel braces & bow tie gave a modern, summer feel.
