Applewood Weddings is an intimate woodland wedding venue set in three acres of woodland on the outskirts of Leeds, nestled down a small country lane to the East of the city. As a wedding photographer specialising in outdoor weddings based in North Leeds, Applewood Weddings is one of my favourite local venues which I’d love to photograph!

APPLEWOOD WEDDINGS

Applewood Weddings provides the perfect backdrop for your romantic outdoor wedding and outdoor wedding photography. Each area at Applewood Weddings has been landscaped and thought through to make your wedding day flow perfectly, meaning it also provides great variety for your wedding photography with so many beautiful spots to make use of in your photos. There’s a dedicated ceremony area in the woodland under the canopy of the trees, fire pit, space for a wedding yurt, tipi or marquee and an outdoor bar with a wonderful cocktail & gin caravan – Geneva! The entire wedding day takes part under the canopy of the trees (not on an adjacent field). This means all of your wedding photographs will look unique & encapsulate the spirit of the day.

Woodland weddings aren’t for the faint hearted however, you’ll need to think about practicalities with your venue - but at Applewood Weddings they’ll help you from start to finish. It's worth it in the end when you'll have professional photographs that you'll cherish forever to remember every moment! The team at Applewood Weddings work hard with their favourite suppliers to organise things like power, luxury toilets, structures and furniture, taking away any stress but leaving you flexibility & choice. WOODLAND WEDDING CEREMONY

You’ll need to opt for a celebrant and /or humanist wedding for a truly outdoor ceremony at the moment in the UK. Or pop to the registry office before or after your big day for the legal bit and then make your woodland wedding ceremony as personal and real to you as you like - rather having to pick from certain ceremony scripts as you would have to with a registrar wedding ceremony. It can be so much more personalised and having an outdoor wedding ceremony means lots of space for your wedding photographer to work & move around discretely to make sure every angle is captured!

BOHEMIAN OR RUSTIC STYLING?

If you’re pressed for time or aren’t quite sure how to bring your ideas to life, then think about hiring a wedding stylist as part of your wedding planning to really make the magical woodlands come to life. Companies such as Born Boho can delivery props and furniture for the day, such as this macrame tipi entrance, moroccan cushions and boho styling.

Why not bring your pooch along or hire these fluffy alpacas for an hour whilst your wedding breakfast tipi is being transformed into your evening reception space for a first dance after your meal? These make for great photo moments and talking points for your guests, meaning you'll get some great candid expressions as well as unique photographs you’ll treasure.

My last tip is follow your hearts and plan a wedding that is unique to YOU. Your wedding should be about all the things you both love! My professional wedding photography is all about feeling and emotion, so from the start of the process - (even before you’ve booked with me!) - I make sure to get to know you both really well as a couple meaning you'll be relaxed in front of the camera and enjoy the process of having your photo taken on your wedding day.
